Monday, February 2, 2026 will be a cold weather wear day at RRMS. Students MUST still wear their school ID. Below are the guidelines: 1. Uniforms may be worn. 2. Appropriate bottoms such as jeans or sweatpants may be worn. NO LEGGINGS. 3. If you choose to wear shorts in the colder weather, they must be uniform shorts. 4. Coats, sweatshirts and jackets of any type may be worn. They may not have any inappropriate writing or graphics on them.

Rene Rost was represented well at Parish Honor Band! Our pirates worked hard and put on a phenomenal concert!

All current 8th graders, If you are interested in trying out for Kaplan High Dance Team you can pick up a packet in the front office. Also Junior Gold Dance Team tryouts will be February 9-13. If you are interested please pick up a packet in the front office.

Theatre Troupe Members: Jr. Thespian Festival Paperwork is now available. Students may pick them up off of the stage. Paperwork and fees are due at the beginning of February. Chaperones are welcome to attend as well. The spring calendar for practices is available on the stage, in the Google Classroom, and through the SportsYou app.

Clarification for Cold Weather Wear days as specified by VPSS Below are the guidelines: 1. Uniforms may be worn. 2. Appropriate bottoms such as jeans or sweatpants may be worn. NO LEGGINGS. 3. If you choose to wear shorts in the colder weather, they must be uniform shorts. 4. Coats, sweatshirts and jackets of any type may be worn. They may not have any inappropriate writing or graphics on them. We are more concerned with students keeping warm at bus stops, bus rides and in between classes that are located in portable buildings. This is a district-wide policy that was implemented last year. A cold weather day called by the district is for ALL schools.

Vermilion Parish Schools and offices will be open tomorrow Tuesday, January 27th, 2026. District cold weather dress will be allowed for the remainder of the week. As a reminder, Wednesday is no longer a 1/2 for students and will be a full day of school.

Congratulations to the following Rene Rost students for making the Vermilion Parish Honor Band! These students have worked incredibly hard and will represent our school well at their concert next weekend!

Central Office Message Vermilion Parish schools will be closed on Monday after consultation with the National Weather Service and the office of Emergency Preparedness. Concern for ice on the roads, a wind chill projected in the single digits and water being turned off played a role in the decision. A call out will be going out around 1:00 pm with the official notice to all families. If an extension of this school closure becomes necessary, we will inform you at that time. NOTE: Wednesday, January 28th was originally scheduled to be a 1/2 day of school. IT IS NOW A FULL DAY.

Mrs. Hannah's STEM class officially began their robotics project today. This hands-on project based learning integrates teamwork and communication development into our exploration computer science curriculum, ensuring students receive comprehensive exposure to the field.
